Paratiisi - Paradise

Viikonloppu kesäparatiisissa oli virkistävä. Kumma, miten pari päivää poissa kotoa ja arkielämästä voi tuntua viikolta.

The weekend at our summer place was good. It`s funny how a couple of days spent somewhere you`re not living, away from your everyday life, can feel like a week or more. Refreshing.

Loppukesästä saari on erilainen kuin heinäkuun kiireisinä viikkoina. Vähemmän ihmisiä, ja pysytään enemmän omissa oloissaan. Rauhallista.

In late summer the island is different from busy July. Fewer people, and they tend to keep to themselves. It is quiet and calm.




Iso-isoäitini istuttamat vanhat omenapuut kantavat yhä hedelmää. Parasta omenissa on tuoksu, joka tulee vastaan kun astuu ovesta ulos (muuten hedelmät ovat matoisia ja kirpeitä).

The old apple trees my great-grandmother has planted are still bearing fruit. The best thing about the fruit is apple-y scent that greets you when you step out of the door.



Teimme yökävelyn kuutamolla. Kaupungin ulkopuolella näkee, miten kuu todella valaisee. Kuu oli iso ja keltainen, ja taivas täynnä tähtiä.

We took a late night walk in moonlight. No city lights, so the big yellow moon really .... our way. And the sky was full of stars.




Vaikka on vielä kesä, merkkejä syksystä oli jo näkyvissä.

Although it`s still summer you could already see signs of autumn.
