Ameriikan ihmeitä - Wonders of America

Perjantaina löysin tämän kynnysmatoltani:
On Friday I found this on my door mat:




Eikö näytäkin jännittävältä? Ja niin hienoja postimerkkejä! Silloin kun vielä lähetin monta kirjettä kuussa (Siis oikeaa postia. Toivoisin, että saisin vieläkin pidettyä ihmisiin yhteyttä sillä lailla - tosin suurin osa noista ystävistä on muuttanut Helsinkiin.) ystäville valitsin postimerkit kirjekuoreen tai tunnelmaan sopiviksi. Edelleen ilahduttaa, jos joku on miettinyt niinkin pientä asiaa kuin postimerkkejä.

Doesn`t it look exciting? And the stamps are so great, have a look at some of my favourites. Back when I used to send several letters a month (Yeah, snail mail! Remember that? I wish I still wrote letters instead of being a lazy non-communicative person - though most of the people I wrote to have moved to Helsinki.) I tried to choose the stamps to suit the envelope or the mood. And I still love it when someone`s put some effort to such a tiny thing!




Postimerkin porolla on muuten panhuilu sorkissaan! Kuvittelen, että poro aikoo tuhota sen, jotta joululauluja ei voitaisi enää koskaan soittaa panhuilulla. (Katso edellisen postin alkua, jos ihmettelet, mistä on kyse.)

By the way, the reindeer in the stamp (I guess it`s Rudolph) has a panpipe in his hoofs! I think he`s going to destroy it so no more pan pipe Christmas music can be played. Ever. (If you haven`t got a clue what I`m talking about, see the beginnng of the previous post.)

Kaikki tämä saapui Schmeebotin Thuylta mukanaan kortti, joka sanoi: "I hope these non sense things brighten your day." Päivä muuttui kerralla paremmaksi! Tunnen hiukan syyllisyyttä täällä valittamisesta, mutta joskus valittaminen näköjään kannattaa. :)

All this came from Thuy of Schmeebot, with words 'I hope these non sense things brighten your day.' You bet they did! I feel a bit guilty about whining here in my blog, but it seems to pay off some times. :)




Vielä ihmeellisempää on, että emme tunne toisiamme, siis edes blogitasolla. Vaikka Thuyn neuleblogi oli ensimmäisiä jotka löysin, ja luen sitä suhteellisen säännöllisesti, en ole kommentoinut ennen marraskuuta (olin pitkään hyvin ujo kommentoimaan missään). Tosin olen alkanut epäillä Thuyn kykenevän lukemaan ajatuksia Atlantin yli: mukana oli origamipaperia (juuri sellaista, jota etsin viime viikolla enkä löytänyt) ja Jess Hutchinsonin neulemallivihkonen, jota ajattelin vähän aikaa sitten! Lisäksi mukana oli levyllinen musiikkia, josta en ennen ollut kuullut mitään (hauskaa!) ja tämä pieni söpöläinen, joka kuvassa kurkkii kahvimukini takaa. Tosiaankin wonders of America! ...Luulen, että mukana tuli myös vähän Kalifornian aurinkoa, koska aurinko on paistanut -sen vähän ajan minkä on ollut ylhäällä- joka päivä kirjeen saatuani.


What makes this even more amazing is that we don`t really know each other. I mean not even in Blogosphere - even though Thuy`s knitting blog was one of the first I found and I check it out somewhat regularly, I never commented til November (I was really shy about leaving comments for a long time). It seems like she`s got mind reading abilities though: in the envelope there was just the kind of origami paper I was looking for last week (and couldn`t find) and Jess Hutchinson`s knitting pattern booklet I thought about a while ago. There were also a cd full of music I`ve never heard (so fun!) and this little guy, who`s peeking from behind my coffee mug - he`s a bit shy. Wonders of America, indeed! I think she sent some Californian sun too, since the sun`s been shining everyday since the mail (for those brief hours it`s up - less than six hours!).





Kaikki ihanuus, ja ajatus siitä, että joku ilahduttaa ihmistä, jota ei edes tunne tällälailla, saa minut ihan sanattomaksi. Osaan sanoa vain KIITOS.

All this, and the thought that somebody does this to make a person she doesn`t even know happy, leaves me speechless (and happy!). All I can say is THANK YOU, Thuy!
